Ever looked out at Alaska’s mountains and thought, “I don’t just want to see this… I want to fly it.”
Not from the back seat. From the cockpit. Hands on the controls. Eyes scanning ridgelines and valleys. Leaving the runway and watching as the Alaskan landscape opens up in every direction.
The Alaska Pilot Experience isn’t a cookie-cutter flight training program.
It’s Alaska — on your terms.
A training trip that meets you where you’re at… and leaves you better than you arrived. All of it is guided by experienced instructor pilots every step of the way. If you’re looking for the quickest, clearest path from “I’ve always wanted to…” to “I did it,” you’re in the right place.

Alaska doesn’t do “ordinary” - and neither should your flying. Out here, the world opens up in every direction: mountains, glaciers, endless valleys… and you’re not just looking at it from a screen, you’re the one flying it.
With the Alaska Pilot Experience, you don’t sit back and observe. You take the controls and see Alaska the way pilots were meant to.
From day one, it’s hands-on flying tailored to you, guided by experienced instructors who build real confidence, not just logbook hours. Every flight sharpens your skill, your decision-making, and your comfort in the cockpit… until one day you lift off and realise you’re not “doing a trip” anymore, you’ve levelled up as a pilot.

Flying in Alaska might look intimidating from the outside. But when it’s taught properly with the right instructor, anyone can do it.
Every aircraft in the Alaska Pilot Experience program is meticulously maintained and flown by qualified instructors who prioritise safety above all else. You’ll follow a clear training schedule so you can progress at a pace designed to set you up for success.
By the time we're done, flying in Alaska will feel like home.

Think of it as a choose-your-own-adventure for pilots.
Want to come up for one week and pack in focused training?
Or stay for six weeks and really immerse yourself in Alaska flying?
The choice is yours.
“Who is it for?”
Whether you’re new to flying, a current student pilot, a new private pilot, or an experienced aviator who wants more than just laps around the home circuit – this is for you.

You can:
Build time in some of the most stunning and challenging terrain in the world
Train towards a new rating
Knock out your IFR or Multi-Engine
Or simply sharpen your skills in real Alaska conditions. Tailored to your goals - mountain flying, arctic operations, Private licence, time building, IFR, Commercial Licence, Multi-Engine
One-on-one with an experienced Alaskan mentor
Hands-on, high impact in real-world environments
FREE on-site accommodation so you can walk from your room to the runway
Personalised guidance from world-class pilots & instructors
We design the schedule, aircraft time, and goals around you.
“Is it a fixed program or flexible?”
It’s flexible. We’ll help you build a custom package based on how long you want to stay and what you want to achieve.
If you’re ready to turn your next block of flight training into an adventure you’ll never forget…

JUST IMAGINE...

Landing in Anchorage, knowing everything’s already sorted.
No scrambling for hotels, rental cars or directions. You’re met with clear instructions and shown to your accommodation right above the hangar.
Checking into your own pilot’s hideaway above the airplanes.
You drop your bags, look out the window and see the ramp below and mountains in the distance. This isn’t a generic hotel room — this is your Alaskan flying basecamp.
Waking up and walking straight into your pre-flight briefing
No commute. No stress. Just a short walk downstairs into the hangar, hot coffee in hand, sitting with your instructor, mapping out the day’s mission over real Alaskan terrain.
Stepping into the aircraft and launching into the wild
Run-up complete, power in, and within minutes of takeoff you’re climbing out over rivers, glaciers, valleys and snow-covered peaks. You’re not looking at Alaska from a postcard — you’re flying through it.
Training with purpose toward your next big goal
Every flight is built around what you came here to achieve — IFR, Multi, time-building or a new rating — with scenarios, routes and conditions you simply can’t replicate back home.
Heading home with a new skillset and a story you’ll never forget
You don’t just leave with logbook entries. You leave with confidence, judgement and Alaska experience that will stay with you every time you strap into an aircraft again.
Tell us how long you want to stay, from a focused 1-week boost to a full 6-week immersion, and we’ll help you design the adventure — and the training outcome — that fits you best.

Feeling your confidence build with each flight as procedures that once felt foreign start to feel natural…

Reaching the moment where you realise you’re no longer “learning about flying” — you’re actually doing it…

And finally, experiencing the achievement of flying an aircraft solo — something most people only ever dream about…

“Excellent flight school if you’re looking to for high quality training the Anchorage, AK area. In today’s day and age of flight training, it was a breath of fresh air to see a school focusing on quality training with an emphasis on becoming a future captain.
Josiah, my CFI was a super knowledgeable, skilled, and fun CFI to work with. The staff is super friendly and will go out of their way to ensure you have a great time (Thanks for the bear spray for my hikes).
I stayed at their lodge at Merrill Field and it was super convenient and clean place to stay. The check in and out is efficient as you can check in on your own which was nice as my flight arrived in late.
Flying in Alaska was some of the best flying I've ever done in my life. I will definitely be coming back in the future. Thanks again!”

"I’ve been to 3 different flight schools and hands down Vance’s operation is the best! I came to tune up my instrument flying and time build and it was a great experience. If you are looking at starting your flight training or continuing it, I highly recommend Birch Creek!"

Most pilots don’t stall out because they lack ambition. They stall out because they keep postponing the next step.
“I’ll work on that rating later.”
“I’ll build time somewhere else… one day.”
Meanwhile, the chance to train in a place like Alaska quietly slides down the list.
The Alaska Pilot Experience exists to stop that from happening.
This isn’t just more laps around the pattern. It’s your chance to turn ordinary training into an adventure — flying real missions in real Alaska conditions, with instructors who do this every day. Whether you’re chasing IFR, Multi, serious time-building or just want to sharpen your skills in terrain you’ll never forget, we’ll build a clear, structured plan around your goals.

There’s a moment during flight training when everything clicks. The runway falls away, the aircraft responds to your inputs, and you realise you’re not watching someone else fly - you’re actually doing it.
The feeling of controlling an aircraft, seeing the world stretch out below you, and knowing you’re progressing toward a solo flight is something words just can't describe. That's why so many people describe their first flights as life-defining moments.
We're just here to give you that same jaw-dropping experience too.

Many aspiring pilots never make it past "thinking about it". Long wait times for training schools, unclear pathways, and limited availability often mean that opportunities to become a pilot slip away before they even get started. Street to Seat was built to change that.
By limiting monthly intakes and offering a simple, free application process - we make it possible for anyone who wants to take their seat in the sky a chance to secure a place, get scheduled, and actually begin training - instead of watching another intake fill up.
We want to see the excitement on your face from your first take-off, not the disappointment from being grounded once again.
So For A Limited Time, You Can Make An Application & Get A Private Consult With An Expert Flight Instructor Without Spending A Single Cent.
There’s no requirement to commit blindly or pay upfront just to find out if the program is right for you. Alaskan Pilot Experience starts with a simple free application and a conversation with your instructor so you understand the process and what to expect before you even have to decide about moving forward.
Once accepted, you’ll secure your training schedule and begin a structured program designed bespoke to you, without any pressure or risk to lock you in.

Alaskan Pilot Experience is capped each month to ensure quality instruction and safe progression.
To maintain training standards and instructor availability, Alaskan Pilot Experience accepts a limited number of students per intake. Once places are filled, applications close until the next opening.
That’s why the process starts with a free application - not payment.
By applying early, you give yourself the best chance of securing a place in an upcoming intake and locking in a training schedule that works around your availability.
There’s no obligation and no upfront payment required to apply. You’ll speak directly with an instructor and understand the program clearly - so you only have to move forward if it’s the right fit.
If your plans change, scheduling can be adjusted where availability allows. The goal is to be flexible and adapt to exactly what your training needs are, without compromising training quality or safety.
Zero Risk. Zero Hassle. Zero Worries.
Nope! The Street to Seat program is designed specifically for beginners. Most of our students have never even sat in a cockpit before. From day one, you’ll be learning alongside highly trained instructors who guide you step by step until you’re ready for your first solo flight.
Most students complete their first solo flight in around 30 Days, depending on weather, availability, and personal progress. Everyone learns at a different pace, but our program is structured to keep you moving forward quickly and safely.
That’s the best-case scenario! 🎉
If you solo before using all of your included hours, you don’t lose them. Instead, the remaining hours roll straight into your Private Pilot Licence (PPL) training.
This means you’ll already be ahead of the game - and saving money - when you move on to your full licence package. So whether you solo on your 10th, 12th, or 15th hour, you’ll keep flying and keep building towards your next goal.
Our program is designed to get most students to solo within the included training hours - and the majority achieve that milestone on time.
However, your safety is our number one priority. We will never send a student solo if we believe they are not ready. Flying solo is a big responsibility, and readiness varies from person to person.
If you use up the included training hours without being signed off for solo, we’ll sit down with you, review your progress, and provide a clear estimate of how many additional hours you’ll likely need. From there, you can choose to purchase those extra hours and continue until you’re ready to fly solo.
This way, your solo flight is not only achievable - it’s safe, confident, and unforgettable.
NO, you can begin your training right away without a medical certificate - no need to delay your first lessons.
But here’s the important part: before your first solo flight, you must hold a valid FAA medical certificate (at least a Class 3). You’ll also need a student pilot certificate and a government-issued photo ID.
The good news is, the medical is a straightforward process, and we’ll guide you through it when the time comes. Many students schedule it within their first few weeks of training so everything is ready well before solo.
There is an age limit of 16 years for solo flight. We’ve trained students as young as 11 and as seasoned as 70+. If you’re healthy enough to sit in an aircraft and take instructions, you can fly. There’s no “too young” or “too old” when it comes to chasing the dream of flight.
Because we want every student to have the one-on-one attention they need. Limiting the cohort ensures instructors and aircraft availability match your training schedule, so you’re not left waiting around.
Then you’ll need to wait until the next one. Applications close at the end of each month, or earlier if we reach 10 students. If you’re serious about flying, apply as soon as possible so you don’t miss out.
Sometimes students aren’t quite ready for the commitment — and that’s okay. If your application isn’t approved, you’ll be invited to take a Discovery Flight for just $199, which is exclusive to Street to Seat applicants. It’s a great way to dip your toe in and prepare for the full program later.
A Discovery Flight is a hands-on flying experience with a certified instructor. You’ll do a pre-flight briefing, get in the cockpit, and get to do the take-off with instructor assistance (with the instructor beside you). It’s the perfect way to see what flying is really like before committing to the full program.
That’s completely normal! Most students feel a little anxious on day one. Our instructors are patient, supportive, and experienced in helping beginners build confidence. By the time you reach your solo, you’ll be amazed at how natural it feels.
That’s up to you! Many students continue training toward their full Private Pilot Licence or even continue to Commercial, while others simply tick “flying an aircraft solo” off their bucket list. Either way, your first solo is a milestone you’ll never forget - and it’s yours for life.
Simply click the “Submit Application” button, answer a few quick questions, and submit your application. You’ll know instantly if you’ve been approved. Once approved, you’ll be taken to a secure page to choose your payment option and lock in your seat.
Seats are limited, so once you’ve secured your spot, we can’t offer refunds. If something unexpected comes up, we’ll do our best to move you into the next cohort.
Most flight schools work on a casual, pay-as-you-go basis, which can drag out training and delay results. Street to Seat is structured, focused, and results-driven, designed to get you to your first solo fast — without wasted time or money.
Weather rarely affects lesson scheduling, but our monthly cohort model allows flexibility. If delays occur, we work with you to make up the time so you still stay on track toward your solo.
Secure your place in an upcoming Alaskan Pilot Experience intake by applying today. With limited availability, flexible scheduling, and no upfront payment required to apply - all it takes is one click of a button to find out if the Alaskan Pilot Experience is truly the right choice for you.
